Club
Profile

The Hamilton Golf Club is based at St Andrews – an inner-city course steeped in history, beautifully maintained, every hole offering risk and reward. It is a buoyant, friendly club which welcomes all categories of membership and visitors.

The club started in 1903 in central Hamilton and moved a couple of times before the vision and generosity of Harry Gillies saw it established on the St Andrews site in 1913.

St Andrews started life as an undulating links course, complete with more than 60 bunkers. Later trees were planted and some of the rough tamed. In recent years the course has been tweaked to improve playability and maintenance demands. Some of the famously feared bunkers have been reshaped or replaced with mown swales, some trees removed and a few tees stretched back. This major redevelpment project, in association with the Greg Turner Design, was completed in 2023. Pictured below, bunkering on the 9th green, and further down, the 1st hole, are examples of the new style now featured across the entire course.

The club has more than 1,000 members, and offers membership categories to suit all levels. The club has a regular playing programme for competitive golf, as well as more social options, and caters for all ages and levels. It is a great place to meet people and enjoy the views from the established clubhouse, café and bar.

The Lodge Friday Open is held on the last Friday of every month and is an excellent format for visitors planning a visit.

A new monthly event began in 2024 - the Black Tee Monthly Open - culminating in November with a chance to win a new Mercedes from Ingham Prestige in a hole in one shootout on the par 3 18th hole.

Whether a member or visitor, we hope you enjoy all that Hamilton Golf Club - St Andrews offers.
